A Bag From You and Me Can Save A life
Held on 8 August 2025, the Blood Donation Drive with Love event, which carried the educative theme “A Bag from You and Me Can Save a Life,” attracted an enthusiastic crowd to Alor Setar Mall Friday, helping boost local blood bank reserves, while inspiring a spirit of community service amongst locals.

At the recent blood donation drive, visitors donated blood as well as received free health screenings
Held at Alor Setar Mall and organised by Pertubuhan Kebajikan Pekan Simpang Kuala in collaboration with Putra Medical Centre Alor Setar, Persatuan Penganut Sheng Ji Tang Alor Setar Kedah, Persatuan Rekreasi Sam Hor, and JCI Malaysia, Friday’s day blood donation drive ran from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
A LIFE-SAVING COLLABORATION INITIATIVE
An initiative with free admission, which was open to the public, its main goals were raising awareness on the importance of regular blood donation, increasing local blood bank reserves, as well as fostering a sense of social responsibility among the public. A joint endeavour aimed at strengthening ties among the community, healthcare providers, and volunteers, the overall effort added to the aim of maintaining a sustainable and safe supply of blood at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar.
“This joint initiative exemplifies PMC’s enduring commitment to community health and national unity. Blood donation is a simple yet powerful act that helps save countless lives,” explained Dr. Lee Ling Hui, General Manager and Safety and Health Officer of Putra Medical Centre and PMCK Berhad.
Free Health Screenings and Blood Donation
The target audience included young working adults, members of various societies, and the general public aged 18 to 55. Visitors donated blood and received free health screenings. These spanned blood pressure checks, haemoglobin level testing, and blood group identification. Meanwhile, donors with low haemoglobin levels were provided with medication as a means to boost their overall health.
This year’s collection of 254 packs of blood surpassed the initial target of 250, topping last year’s 240 packs. All donations will help maintain a sustainable supply for Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar.

The effort’s aim was strengthening ties among the community, healthcare providers, and volunteers.
