In Our Physicians’ Healing Hands: Celebrating PMC’s Culture of Saving Lives Through Our Doctors
Selfless contributions. True dedication.
Every now and then, someone walks into our lives wearing a white coat and carrying more than just a stethoscope; they carry hope. As the global healthcare arena recognises doctors and their selfless work this month, we take a sincere pause to honour the extraordinary men and women in medicine at PMC (Alor Setar) who dedicate their lives to healing ours. Their contributions symbolise dedication.
At Putra Medical Centre, every single doctor in our workforce adds a meaningful chapter to our story.
MORE THAN JUST MEDICINE
While most of us are starting our mornings with a cup of kopi, our doctors are already reviewing scans, checking on newborns, easing worried hearts, and sometimes delivering life-saving news with a steady voice. Be it guiding a mother through childbirth, treating a child’s first fever, or performing a complex surgery, they’re always there. Their calm, compassion, and commitment don’t go unnoticed.
The Calibre Behind The Care
At PMC, every doctor in our workforce adds a chapter to our story. Each name on our roster, whether in General Surgery, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Dentistry, plays a vital role in the wellbeing of our community and patrons in Malaysia’s Northern region. Today, we have 30 resident consultants and 20 visiting specialists across at least 16 medical disciplines serving our patients and their families.
Dr. Tan Boon Lee, our General & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon, quietly helps patients recover not just from illness, but with dignity and minimal scarring. His hands operate with passion and precision.
Dr. Sakinah Mohd. Akhir, a Resident Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Critical Care Specialist at PMC, ensures the safety and wellbeing of patients who must undergo sedation during a crucial procedure.
Dr. Wan Mohd. Ashraf Abdul Rauf, our dedicated Sports Medicine Specialist, gets athletes back on their feet and into the game with skill—and pays attention when treating injuries and mobility issues.
Dr. Adlin Farahani Bahrudin, a Dentist at Putra Medical Centre, approaches dental restoration, root canal treatment, and more both mindfully and meticulously, keeping her patients at ease throughout.
Dato’ Dr. Lim Tze Chou, a longstanding PMC Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, supports women through all stages of life, from joyful deliveries to fertility journeys to vital women’s health challenges.
A “Thank You” From All of Us
“To our doctors of Putra Medical Centre, thank you for your sleepless nights and missed family dinners, and for the wisdom you share with every patient. Thank you for your resilience during pandemics and high-pressure emergencies, and for your kindness in every quiet but meaningful patient consultation,” conveys Dato’ Lee Gaik Cheng, the Managing Director of Putra Medical Centre.
“You are more than just physicians. You are healers who offer hope. We are eternally grateful. At this hospital, our commemoration is all about connection. We see the impact you create in both big and small ways. Whether it is a bouquet of flowers on your desk, a thank you note from a recovered patient, or a warm handshake from a colleague, your true commitment is captured through the lives you touch. Our deep appreciation for you isn’t just for one day, but in this moment and season, we say it louder.”
Join us in celebrating the heart of healthcare here at Putra Medical Centre: our passionate physicians.
HEARTFELT GRATITUDE: FROM YOU TO THEM
If a PMC doctor has touched your life, send him or her a message. Tag them on our social media pages or simply drop them a kind word at your next visit. “What inspires me every day is knowing that a single moment of reassurance offered to a patient, or a carefully chosen treatment, can alter the course of someone’s life. We journey with all our patrons and their families,” notes Dr. Norhaila Mohamad Adenam, Resident Consultant Paediatrician at PMC.
