OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY

Care for women's health at every stage — through pregnancy and birth, and for the conditions that affect the reproductive system — with a visiting fertility clinic on site.

Overview

Women's health, at every stage

Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) looks after women’s health from adolescence, through the reproductive years, into menopause. It has two sides that work together but do different jobs: Obstetrics is pregnancy, birth and the weeks after; Gynaecology is the health of the reproductive system — periods, hormones, growths, and surgery when it’s needed.

At Putra Medical Centre both run side by side, with structured pathways for routine, complex and high-risk cases, working closely with anesthesiologist, paediatricians, neonatologist and surgeons. PMCK also hosts visiting fertility specialist clinics, so couples can get reproductive medicine expertise here rather than travelling for it.

Our two divisions

What we can do about it

O&G has two sides. Obstetrics looks after pregnancy and birth; gynaecology looks after the reproductive system itself.

Obstetrics

Pregnancy, birth and the weeks after — keeping mother and baby safe.

Regular checks through your pregnancy, so anything that changes is picked up early.

What this includes

  • Routine pregnancy check-ups
  • Ultrasound scans
  • Maternal health monitoring
  • Screening for gestational diabetes and high blood pressure
Why it's worth it

Catches problems like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure early.

Gynaecology

The health of the reproductive system — from periods through to surgery.

Periods that are irregular, heavy or painful enough to interfere with daily life.

What this includes

  • Irregular periods
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Hormonal imbalance
Why it's worth it

Improves quality of life and prevents anaemia.

Visiting fertility clinic

Trying for a baby? Our visiting fertility clinic brings reproductive medicine to Alor Setar.

Run by visiting fertility specialists, it covers fertility assessment and hormonal evaluation, ovulation monitoring, follicular tracking, investigation of male and female infertility, assisted reproductive planning where applicable, and pre-conception counselling — so you can access this expertise locally instead of travelling to a tertiary centre.
