Sprinkling Childlike Wonder 

Marking our pilot initiative featuring Pusat Jagaan Superkids, Putra Medical Centre headed to the Alor Setar-based orphanage on 8 February 2025 with a team of six healthcare volunteers to commemorate the traditions of Chinese New Year with some 49 residents. The revellers included children, teenagers, and young adults between the ages of two and 20, and the shelter’s six supervisors. Evoking a Saturday to remember, the warmth of the hospital’s legacy of kindness and care came with an array of surprises.

Aimed at creating meaningful and memorable moments for a highly-deserving tribe of bright minds, the participants were treated to a celestial lion dance showcase, with all the pomp and circumstance to match. Further excitement was infused into these joyful festivities through the gifting of care tokens in the form of nutritious snacks to each reveller. A slew of other recreational activities was also rolled out to guarantee enjoyment, engagement, and an embodiment of the values and virtues that matter.

Where the goal, first and foremost, was the intertwining of happy hearts with lifted spirits, there was a greater purpose to the afternoon’s proceedings, with the children’s wellbeing at the centre of it all.
