Putra Medical Centre Celebrates A Healthier Future and Community Centricity With The Orphans of Rumah Superkids

All revellers from Rumah Superkids responded with heartfelt engagement, enthusiasm, and gratitude.

It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child. Where the generations of today are the foundation to a healthier tomorrow, the success and wellbeing of all kids depend on the support and involvement of an entire community, and not just parents. But what about those who have no fathers and mothers to call their own? This is every reason for an organisation like Putra Medical Centre Alor Setar to extend our heartfelt approach to social responsibility and humanise the meaning of family and togetherness.

Sprinkling Childlike Wonder

Marking our pilot initiative featuring Pusat Jagaan Superkids, Putra Medical Centre headed to the Alor Setar-based orphanage on 8 February 2025 with a team of six healthcare volunteers to commemorate the traditions of Chinese New Year with some 49 residents. The revellers included children, teenagers, and young adults between the ages of two and 20, and the shelter’s six supervisors. Evoking a Saturday to remember, the warmth of the hospital’s legacy of kindness and care came with an array of surprises.

The warmth of the Putra Medical Centre’s legacy of kindness and care came with an array of surprises.

Aimed at creating meaningful and memorable moments for a highly-deserving tribe of bright minds, the participants were treated to a celestial lion dance showcase, with all the pomp and circumstance to match. Further excitement was infused into these joyful festivities through the gifting of care tokens in the form of nutritious snacks to each reveller. A slew of other recreational activities was also rolled out to guarantee enjoyment, engagement, and an embodiment of the values and virtues that matter.

Caring Clan With A Plan

Where the goal, first and foremost, was the intertwining of happy hearts with lifted spirits, there was a greater purpose to the afternoon’s proceedings, with the children’s wellbeing at the centre of it all. Well thought-out and meticulously curated to go beyond fun and games, Putra Medical Centre added significance to our role by prioritising such vital aspects as health literacy, preventive care, emotional welfare, and a potent sense of community consciousness, where the underserved often go unnoticed.

“At Putra Medical Centre, we believe that healthcare goes beyond our hospital walls. It’s about making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Our CSR initiative with Pusat Jagaan Superkids reflects our commitment to community wellbeing, ensuring every child has access to essential health education and care. ” shared Esther Lee Ling Hui, General Manager of Putra Medical Centre Alor Setar.

Choosing Rumah Superkids

This specific orphanage, was our pick for this CSR undertaking where we considered its needs and the potential impact from targeted support. Be it limited healthcare access, educational opportunities, or essential resources, PMC Alor Setar recognises the vast importance of making a purposeful difference. In addition, our engagement strengthens our organisation’s long-term relationships and ties with the community. We give prominence to socially-responsible initiatives that are sustainable and impactful.

“Seeing the joy and engagement of the children reaffirms our mission to build a more compassionate, healthier society. We’re excited for more meaningful alliances that empower and uplift communities.” Lee further explained that as a healthcare provider, the brand’s mission extends beyond patient care.

Putra Medical Centre strives to make an actual difference in the lives of the underserved. By investing in this, we honour our code and culture, laying the foundation for future such outreach programmes. Such an undertaking reaffirms our dedication to making healthcare accessible to all, where it is a right.

Crafting An Emblem of Altruism

In the context of this benevolent and safe refuge for orphaned minors, conscientious and thoughtful support is in the form of care, comfort, camaraderie, coaching, and companionship. Where these kids and adolescents come under the bracket of underprivileged members of the community, the onus is on supporters like Putra Medical Centre Alor Setar to identify and bridge gaps where deficits abound.

With this initial effort, the above was achieved through the delivery of health screenings and guidance, all of which fed the orphanage’s need for a bonafide education on personal health, wellness, and care. Meanwhile, the significance for our organisation is the earnest opportunity to deepen and amplify our contributions as a trusted healthcare provider that gives back to the community in which we operate.

In return, where these provisions help cultivate an atmosphere of shared responsibility and where the duty or care is evenly distributed among players with a conscience, homegrown entities such as PMC Alor Setar influence the blueprints of tangible, measurable, and sustainable outcomes when our future trailblazers and trendsetters arise later to pick up the mantle and sow the same seeds of empathy and charity. Similarly, these avenues inspire PMC employees to also actively participate in the doings and efforts that align with our brand’s core values of care, compassion, and service. It is what family does.
