Putra Medical Centre Celebrates Staff and Community During Chinese New Year 2025 Festivities

Putra Medical Centre (PMC) Alor Setar celebrated the Chinese New Year with a spirit of optimism and a commitment to healthcare excellence. It has a dual focus: honouring its dedicated staff and engaging with the broader community. The atmosphere was vibrant as staff members from diverse backgrounds united in celebration, transcending cultural boundaries and strengthening bonds within the PMC family.
This year’s celebrations coincided with the Year of the Snake, symbolising wisdom, resilience, and transformation. PMC’s festivities underscore the organisation’s commitment to its workforce, its core values, and its vision for the future.
PMC Leadership Honours Staff Dedication
Recognising staff contributions is viewed as crucial for boosting morale and inspiring a culture of excellence. In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, PMC’s leadership team celebrated and recognised their dedicated staff during the year’s CNY festivities.
Led by Strategic Director Lee Yong Qian, Director of Allied Health Services Lee Geik Peng, General Manager Lee Ling Hui, Madam Kanagambikai, Nursing Manager Mdm Izzul and Nursing Supervisor Sr Nurul Harzirah; the hospital management personally visited several departments to convey their gratitude to each staff member for their unwavering commitment.
Thoughtful tokens of appreciation were distributed, symbolising their acknowledgment of hard work. Director of Allied Health Services Lee Geik Peng, remarked, “Our staff are the backbone of Putra Medical Centre. Each plays a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of patient care. Events like this is a reminder of the importance of forging meaningful connections throughout our organisation. Together, we cultivate a culture rooted in respect, teamwork, and shared purpose.”
Pre-CNY Celebrations: Welcoming The Year of The Snake
Earlier in January, PMC Alor Setar hosted a pre-CNY celebrations under the theme “Unity and Good Health for All”. These celebrations aim to reinforce community ties, involving patients, staff, and partners. During the celebrations, the hospital was transformed with traditional Chinese New Year decorations, red lanterns, and thematic backdrops to create a festive atmosphere.
Strategic Director Lee Yong Qian said: “This year’s celebrations emphasise unity and well-being, highlighting the importance of togetherness.”
“Through the festivities, we aim to strengthen bonds with patients, clients, staff, and corporate partners. By fostering an inclusive environment that embraces cultural traditions, we express gratitude for the trust and support received over the years,” he added.

PMC’s pre-CNY celebrations also feature symbolic activities aimed at promoting prosperity, well-being, and cultural appreciation:
- Traditional Lion Dance Performance: A dynamic and energetic display which represent good fortune, prosperity, and success for the year ahead.
- Mandarin Orange Distribution: A longstanding tradition representing wealth and good fortune, offering blessings of prosperity and health to all participants.
- Cultural Workshops: Interactive sessions exploring Chinese New Year traditions to foster cultural understanding and appreciation.
- Festive Photo Opportunities: Opportunities for attendees to capture memories against themed backdrops.
